Back home after 40 days in India

Posted by Pramod on September 27, 2008

Wow, back home and back to blogging after 40 days… Really missed wordpress…

Well, frankly i am really glad to be back to my home sweet home and ready to live my Mauritian life… :P

Let me share some of my experiences in India.

Delhi:
A really nice place where you get everything at a reasonable price… However the sellers there recognize you as foreigners and sell at high price, mum and her sis had to do a lot of bargaining… She bought most of her sarees in Delhi itself… Went to visit some places like Akshardham which was really beautiful especially the Light and Sound at night. I was also able to travel in the Metro which was really cool.

Overall Delhi is a nice place but a lot of rush…

Chandigarh:
This one’s a really beautiful place with lots of place to visit namely the Rock Garden and the Sukhna Lake. The food was really good there.

Manali:
Well here i fell sick after eating Kachori, due to which i was not able to enjoy the place at all :( There were some beautiful places there. It was in the mountains and it was really cold.

Haridwar:
This was a place of worship and i was able to wash my sins in the River of the Ganges (Ganga Mayyaa) :P But we got to be careful of the priests there, in the name of prayers they take more than Rs.200 from you. This is what angered me the most.

Mussoorie:
That was another place in the mountains which was really beautiful and cold as well. But here fortunately i was not sick thus i was able to enjoy the place. :D

Kempty Falls

Agra:
The famous Taj Mahal as everyone knows. Nothing more to say about it. :)

Jaipur:
This was a place for buying Sarees and mum bought nice Sarees there. That’s the place where the Sarees are made by hand (Handlooms) and are quite expensive. We also visit a fort called the Amber Fort built by the Kings there and the King still lives in the palace at the back (We cannot go and meet the King personally :( we can only visit the Museum in front).

Jodhpur:
Here we met our relatives, they were really nice and we felt at home. Since it was in the Rajasthan near the desert it was so hot (around 38 degrees celcius) that we rarely went out during the day.

Mumbai:
This was one place i liked the most. It reminded me of port louis a bit where there are both places like Caudan Waterfront and the big big offices (much more bigger than in Mauritius of course) as well as a Big Bazar Port Louis :P

Return:
I was really glad to return home since i missed my country.

To conclude i can say that India is a nice country with everything and every resources, but the only thing is the size of the country and the huge population slows it’s progress yet we can see india progressing really fast in every field nowadays. Yet i prefer my Mauritius because of the climate and the beauty. At least i know that’s mine :) Am looking forward to go to India again and this time it will be on my own… ;)

    Hello!

    Welcome back!

But we got to be careful of the priests there
haha, prayers is only a business there…

I went to india in 1999, and since then, I havent even planned to go there again, unlike my sis n parents who returned back twice, while I chose to look after the house in Mauritius :D

During our first visit there, we travelled a lot, REALLY A LOT!
I have seem whats poverty, and whats the luxury of living in really good hotels!
Wow, the difference is HUGE when you compare these 2 extremes.

And when i was still there, I was longing to eat a “bouillon brede, rougaille, satini pomme de terre et diriz!”
I really missed this menu a lot, compared to the food you have there, especially their boiled noodles which has a completely different taste.

Anyway, it was a great experience…but am happier here :D

    Cheers!

Wow, the difference is HUGE when you compare these 2 extremes.

That’s really true, there is a huge gap between the rich and the poor.

And when i was still there, I was longing to eat a “bouillon brede, rougaille, satini pomme de terre et diriz!”
Labas so manG plein ek zepices and full of oil… They say that our food is for the sick people since it does not have so many spices…

But there is one thing: “India has got all the resources and i have seen the government there making an effort in the progress of the country” (Li pas aussi facile pou nourit ene population 1,027,015,247)
In ten years if there are no major obstacles India will be much far ahead.

Still i would like to say Mauritius is really a paradise :D

LOL, U talking about the ‘Pandits’ in india? Frankly speaking the Mauritian Pandits are far much better than the indian ones. 3/4 “Pandits” couyonne toi labas pou tire l’argent ek toi… Grrr… As soon as they find a foreigner they make them make donation in the name of their parents and grand-parents who have passed away… Pfft… Pas conner kifr zot rode couyonne dimounes coumsa… It’s purely harassing and conning the foreigners saem ene de banne trucs mo pas ine content labas…

Cool, welcome back home sweet home.
I hope India trip has been a great experience for you.

I’ve been to this great country and honestly this has marked my life. I had the great opportunity to learn about Indian lifestyle there, and when I compare it with our lifestyle (mauritian), we are truly living in a paradise island.
